✨ How I Plan My Trips with Notion (ft. My NYC Itinerary!)

Travel planning can either be the most exciting part of the trip… or the most chaotic. I used to be Team Chaos—with dozens of tabs open, emails with tickets buried somewhere in my inbox, and random notes floating around. But ever since I started building my trip itineraries in Notion, everything changed.

Whether you’re planning a family trip, a graduation celebration, or a solo adventure, here’s how I turn my Notion workspace into a travel command center. Let’s take my upcoming NYC itinerary as an example 📽️👟🎭

🗂 My Notion Trip Planner Setup

I created a dedicated Notion page just for my NYC trip—and inside, I split it into sections that make everything easy to find, organize, and visualize. Here's what I included:

1. 🗓 Full Itinerary Section (Day-by-Day Plans)

Using toggle lists, I created a clear itinerary that breaks down what I’ll be doing each day—from checking out Times Square to seeing a Broadway show. The toggle feature keeps things clean, but lets me write detailed notes when I need to expand.

🗓 Day 1 (Arrival)
✈️ Flight lands at 2PM (JFK)
🏨 Check in at hotel (Midtown)
🍕 Grab pizza at Joe’s
🎭 Times Square walk + photos

🗓 Day 2
🚒 Statue of Liberty tour (9AM)
🥯 Bagel run nearby (pre-booked)
🎨 Afternoon at The Met
🎤 Broadway show @ 7PM

2. 🔗 Linked Resources & Ticket Tracker

I added a little section with links to confirmation emails, ticket PDFs, reservation links, and even group chat messages. I also track booking statuses like this:

See!? Nice and easy!

3. 📍 Google Map Pins

I embedded my custom Google Map that includes all the places I want to visit. Notion lets me link directly to each location so I can open it in Google Maps with one tap while I’m out and about.

4. 🎒 Packing List Toggle

No more forgetting phone chargers or umbrellas! I created a quick packing list with toggles for categories (Clothes, Toiletries, Tech, etc.)

😍 Why I Love Using Notion for Travel Planning

  • Everything in one place: No switching between tabs or apps—Notion holds it all.

  • Visual & fun: I decorate the page with cover photos, emojis, and even embed weather forecasts for the trip.

  • Toggle lists = life saver: I can hide or expand info depending on what I need.

  • Real-time updates: I make changes on my phone or laptop, and it syncs perfectly. Great for last-minute schedule shifts!

🌟 Ready to Try It?

If you’re planning a trip soon (or even just dreaming up one), I highly recommend setting up a travel dashboard in Notion. It's like having a personal travel assistant who’s super organized and always with you. 😎
